Oppose Elimination of Statute of Limitations in Child Abuse Prosecutions

21 Mar 2012 1:50 PM | Admin (Administrator)

Please contact your state representative as soon as possible to oppose the House proposal to eliminate the statute of limitations in criminal prosecutions for child abuse. (At present there is a statute of limitations, G.L. 277, sec 63, which provides for a 27 year limitation period unless the charge is supported by “independent evidence that corroborates the victims’ allegation” – in which case there is no limitation period.)

Please also contact Rep O’Flaherty, the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, to support him on his opposition to this proposal. (See Boston Globe, Metro section 3/21/12 or click here)
